Meet Kala — Maker, Woodworker, & Founder of Bright Medley Gifts

I’m a happy Knoxville transplant — moved here a couple of years ago to be closer to family, and it’s become home in every way that matters. I’m Kala, the hands and imagination behind Bright Medley Gifts — a one-woman woodshop creating unique charcuterie boards, trays, wine accessories, and handcrafted home goods.

This whole adventure started the way many great things do: with curiosity, a sander, and the thought “I bet I can make that.” Fast forward, and now I’m blending exotic hardwoods, swirling shimmering epoxy, and shaping custom boards for homes all over East Tennessee and across the country.
 

By day, I work in a role that’s heavy on strategy, planning, and — yes — endless spreadsheets. By night, I trade keyboard clicks for the hum of sanders, the swirl of epoxy, and the quiet satisfaction of bringing a piece of wood to life. It’s a pretty great balance.

Every Bright Medley piece is made by hand, start to finish. I source beautiful hardwoods, mill, pour epoxy, shape, sand (and sand… and sand), finish with my custom conditioning balm, package each piece myself, and send it to its new home. No mass production. No shortcuts.
